Every so often, you want to go backwards in
time, to the days when you could sit down and enjoy a big hamburger,
some greasy fries and a creamy milkshake without worrying about
caloric intake or the impact on your wallet. Here, you still can.
The Buttery Restaurant has been serving local residents the same
traditional lunch menu for years without changing a thing. It's
comfort food with the coziness of home.
m
............ served with a smile in portions so large you'll
be shocked the bill is so low. This is strictly lunch counter-style
dining, but the place is ultra-clean and homey, located smack in the
middle of the city's office district. It's little wonder local
business people flock here for takeout. Get here early, however;
this is strictly a breakfast and lunch spot.

Breakfast at The Buttery |
|
When it comes
to breakfast, sometimes you just want simplicity: a place to drink
coffee and read the paper with no fuss. No goat cheese omelets. No
frittatas. No frilly french toast.
Don't get me wrong. I love a good fancy brunch complete with bloody
Mary or mimosa. But some mornings I just want the kind of down home
style breakfast they used to serve at Woolworth's lunch counters.
You know-- in the pre-Starbucks days. |
